VanderSat has been active in Africa since the start of the company in 2015. Serving clients in the agricultural, banking and insurance industry with daily satellite observations of water availability to improve food security and farm practices. With extreme climate events increasing on the African continent the need for insurance for farmers, and improved farming methods based on solid data are very welcome.
The Johannesburg office will be led by Arjan Molenkamp. Arjan is a seasoned banking executive who previously held the position of Chief Retail Banking Officer at National Microfinance Bank and Director-Retail Banking, Change & Integration at Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc. Arjan was triggered by the impact VanderSat made with it’s ability to detect water availablity and crop health on a daily basis and the impact that had on food security.
